Giving To Hillel Academy

Why give

Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh is dependent upon the generosity of people like our alumni to support its unique academic and enrichment programming. Because quality day-school education is so costly, full tuition payments by the parent body do not cover the cost of educating our children. At Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh, nearly 48% of our students are receiving tuition assistance. During the upcoming school year, we anticipate that Hillel will award $750,000 in financial aid to our families. Because the number of individuals who give to Hillel Academy are small, and our need is great, your gift makes a tangible difference.

In addition to securing funds for the school’s ongoing operational needs, Hillel also has plans for long-term growth and stability. Vehicles to support us are summarized below.

Ways to give:

Annual Gifts: These gifts help to subsidize the school’s current–year operating expenses. Annual gifts make up the difference between tuition costs and what the actual costs are of running a school. These gifts help to contribute to balancing the operational budget and to defray the increasing cost of education and meeting the demand of scholarship and financial aid assistance. Donations and pledges of support to our special events i.e. Awards Night Raffle, Cultural Event and Annual Dinner and Tribute Book are of significant consequence in easing the school’s financial obligations.

Endowment Gifts: The Hillel Foundation continues its mission of developing and managing endowed gifts to provide for the long-term viability of our school. The interest from these funds are annually made available and applied to ease the operational budget and escalating costs related to maintaining the school. Currently our Endowment Fund is valued at approximately $214,000. Establishing an Endowment will yield personal tax benefits, as well as creating a beautiful legacy that will benefit the future needs of children who are attending Hillel Academy. Your gift will ensure a brilliant future an environment where an exemplary Judaic and Secular education can be taught.

Capital Gifts: These gifts provide for renovation of our physical building and playground located at 5685 Beacon Street Ultimately, we intend to undertake the total refurbishing of the Kether Torah Building which was deeded to Hillel in 19xx by the Rice family. In order to accommodate our growing pre-school enrollment, our physical facilities and early childhood programming are in need of expansion and refurbishment. A Capital Building Campaign is necessary to ensure the future of our school and the continuity of Jewish education.
