Elementary and High Schools
Hillel Academy is an Orthodox community day school committed to the State of Israel and devoted to producing mitzvah-observant graduates who are prepared for the finest universities and post-high school Torah institutions.
Guiding Principles
- Academic excellence is the goal of Hillel Academy. Both General and Judaic studies programs should be rigorous and yet attentive to the needs of children with different learning styles, motivations and abilities. Boys and girls should be taught with the same intensity, breadth and depth of study.
- Hillel Academy is unequivocally committed to derech eretz and the development of proper midot (character traits) in its students. Our graduates should be models of integrity, decency, kindness and responsibility for self and others.
- Hillel Academy should develop in its students a love for all Jews and a respect for the authenticity of different Torah paths.
- A love for the Land of Israel and an identification with the State of Israel and its people should be nurtured among Hillel’s students. The school should develop in its students:
- a feeling for the holiness of the Land,
- an awareness of living in Eretz Yisrael as an ideal,
- knowledge of the history, geography and current events of Modern Zionism and the State of Israel, and
- knowledge of the diversity of religious views on Zionism.
- Hillel’s graduates have a love for and loyalty to the United States of America. They are informed about American history, culture, language and current events and are committed to be actively involved with their community and their country.
- The health and safety of Hillel’s students must be an overarching priority. This priority should be demonstrated by adherence to sound security and safety procedures and by cleanliness and order in the classroom, lunchroom and playground.
- By graduation students should have sufficient mastery of Hebrew grammar and conversational Hebrew to be able to converse and be literate in Hebrew.
Hillel is dedicated to providing an education to any Jewish child, regardless of ability to pay. Nevertheless, Hillel expects its families to contribute to the well-being of the school through tuition and/or fundraising and/or volunteering, to the best of their ability.
